Another tough group Pellegrini's side in this years Champions League.
Yesterday City fans gathered in front of their telly boxes to watch the yearly, drawn-out bore-fest that is the Champions League group draw on BT Sport - the thought of Michael Owen commentating on the biggest games in the world already makes me depressed..
Compilation after compilation and finally the notorious Gianni Infantino introduced guest hosts Paolo Maldini and Javier Zanetti to announce all the group stage results. Nearly an hour of enduring the painful sounds of Peter Schmeichel and shouting 'it's a fix!' at the telly, alas the fate of City's group stage was decided;
Group D:
Juventus (Pot 1)
Man City (Pot 2)
Sevilla (Pot 3)
Borussia Mönchengladbach (Pot 4)
Not at all saying that it's another 'group of death' but Group D is certainly one of, if not, the hardest groups to call in the tournament - although you can never expect an easy group stage in the Champions League. I'm expecting us to top this group for the first time in history, with Juventus just beating Sevilla to the post and Mönchengladbach to be the Group D whipping boys.
Prediction:
1. Man City - 13 points
2. Juventus - 10 - points
3. Sevilla - 9 points
4. Borussia Mönchengladbach - 1 point
Dodging the likes of Barca/Bayern early on could push us on for a favorable last 16 match, however City are still very much an unpredictable side in terms of European football so who knows what will happen. How do you think City will do this year in the UCL?
